Late Tsamba Equalizer Denies CAPS United as Hardrock Rise to the Summit

Hope

Hardrock moved to the top of the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table after a 2-0 victory over Bulawayo Chiefs, as CAPS United dropped crucial points in a 1-1 draw away to Simba Bhora in a dramatic Matchday 13 round of fixtures.

At Wadzanayi Stadium, CAPS United looked set to collect maximum points after taking the lead in the 35th minute through Lloyd Njaliwa. The goal came shortly after a controversial refereeing moment in which Simba Bhora were initially awarded a penalty, only for the decision to be overturned following consultation with the assistant referee.

Despite trailing for much of the match, Simba Bhora showed resilience and pushed strongly in the second half, eventually finding a late equaliser through teenager Cole Tsamba in stoppage time to rescue a valuable point on home soil.

The draw proved costly for CAPS United, who slipped to second place on the log with 27 points, level with Hardrock but behind on goal difference.

Elsewhere, Hardrock took full advantage of the slip-up, producing a commanding performance against Bulawayo Chiefs at Barbourfields Stadium. Goals from Washington Navaya, who converted a 20th-minute penalty, and Neliswa Dlamini, who doubled the lead ten minutes later, secured a comfortable 2-0 win and sent the Kwekwe-based side to the summit of the table.

At Mandava Stadium, FC Platinum continued their steady rise with a narrow 1-0 victory over Chicken Inn, while Manica Diamonds edged TelOne 2-1 in an important away win.

Scottland and ZPC Kariba played out a goalless draw in Harare, while FC Hunters suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Agama, with Tinashe Balakasi scoring the only goal to hand Agama their first win of the season.
