Mukuli Impresses In Highlanders Draw Against Ngezi

Hope

Darlington Mukuli delivered a commanding midfield performance as Highlanders FC played out a goalless draw against Ngezi Platinum Stars FC on Sunday, earning the LuckyBets Player of the Match award.

Although Highlanders failed to collect maximum points, Mukuli’s composure, passing range and control in midfield stood out throughout the encounter. The midfielder dictated the tempo for long periods, forcing Ngezi Platinum to rely heavily on second-ball recoveries in the middle of the park.

The result leaves Highlanders in ninth position on the league table after 13 matches this season, with the club continuing to search for consistency.

Mukuli has enjoyed an impressive return to the side after struggling for regular game time earlier in his career at the Bulawayo giants side.

The midfielder has become an important figure in coach Benjani Mwaruwari’s midfield setup following his recovery from injury.

Sunday’s encounter marked Mukuli’s third consecutive start after he previously missed action following Highlanders’ 1-1 draw against Herentals FC through injury on Matchday 10.

So far this season, Mukuli has started nine matches. He was previously used from the bench against Chicken Inn FC and Simba Bhora FC, while also being named among the substitutes against MWOS FC.

The midfielder has stepped up following the depature of Melikhaya Ncube and Mason Mushore, and has delivered consistent performances since returning to the starting lineup.

Highlanders will now hope Mukuli maintains his fitness as the season progresses, with his recent form providing a positive sign for the Bulawayo giants.
