Mario lingers on in Europe

Warriors coach Marian “Mario” Marinica still has some players he intends to watch and meet in Europe.
The Romanian gaffer has since engaged a number of Warriors hopefuls and regulars including Isaac Mabaya and Shane Maroodza.
While he has managed to have a heart to heart with the red-hot Scotland-based winger Tawanda Maswanhise, captain Marvelous Nakamba, Jordan Zemura and others, Marinica hasn’t had time to visit other players like Brendan Galloway, Andy Rinomhota.
And he has revealed that he wants to have a clean sweep before he can return home.
A source at ZIFA said: “Yes Marinica is still in Europe. He wants to make sure that he watches every prospect and regular in action. He also wants to meet every player and their managers.
“It’s a deliberate move made by ZIFA to ensure that we tap on the diaspora talent to every detail.”
Marinica will be in Europe until the end of this month.
Upon his return, he is expected to conduct two local camps in Harare and Bulawayo as he prepares for a packed 2026 international calendar in which the senior national team will play in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers while the local band will be involved in Chan qualification as well as the Cosafa tournament.
