Malawian Striker Binwell Rahim Katinji Settling Fast At Chicken Inn
Hope

When Chicken Inn signed Malawian striker Binwell Rahim Katinji before the start of the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season, expectations were high. The Gamecocks were looking for a forward who could bring energy, movement, and goals to their attack.
After 13 league matches, Katinji has quickly adjusted to life at Chicken Inn and is proving to be an important part of the team’s attacking setup.
The Malawian striker announced himself early in the campaign when he scored on his debut against Herentals. That moment came in his first league start for Chicken Inn and immediately gave supporters a glimpse of his finishing ability and confidence in front of goal.
By Matchday 13, Katinji had already made 13 appearances, starting 10 matches, while consistently leading the line during his debut season in Zimbabwean football.
One of his standout performances came on Matchday 10 against Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium. The striker produced an impressive display by scoring a brace as Chicken Inn secured an important victory. His sharp movement inside the penalty box and ability to react quickly in dangerous areas caused problems for the Dynamos defence throughout the match.
After scoring twice against the Glamour Boys, Katinji expressed his excitement and confidence as a striker.
“When I see the net I don’t doubt it. If I see the boys coming there, don’t worry — even 5 goals I can score.”
He also appreciated the support from Chicken Inn fans and encouraged them to continue backing the team.
“Our fans must come and support us. We are going to fight for them so that they must be happy.”
Beyond scoring goals, Katinji has also contributed through his movement, pressing, hold-up play, and link-up football with teammates such as Innocent Masiiwa, David Hapmo, Brandon Rendo, Lynoth Chikuhwa, and Kawe.
Throughout the opening part of the season, he has shown a strong work ethic by helping defensively, pressing opposition defenders, and constantly making himself available in attacking areas.
The striker has also produced positive performances against teams such as Manica Diamonds, Ngezi Platinum Stars, TelOne, Simba Bhora, and Hardrock, showing his ability to adapt to the physical demands of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
So far this season, Katinji has scored 3 goals in 13 appearances, including his debut goal against Herentals and his Matchday 10 brace against Dynamos.
For a player adapting to a new country, new teammates, and a different football environment, Katinji’s start at Chicken Inn has been encouraging. His confidence, energy, and attacking qualities continue to make him an important option for the Gamecocks as the season progresses.
As the campaign continues, Chicken Inn supporters will be hoping the Malawian striker maintains his steady rise and continues contributing positively to the team’s performances.
