The Zimbabwe Women’s Premier Soccer League season may still be off season but the Mighty Warriors still have a reason to believe as they march into the COSAFA Women’s Championship that begin this Wednesday in Polokwane, South Africa.
Sithethelelwe “Kwinji 15” Sibanda and her girls travelled to the neighbouring country yesterday, landing at the OR Tambo International Airport early in the morning before driving to the Limpopo Provincial capital.
There maybe concerns around their match fitness levels given the season back home is yet to commence but they have a huge weapon that can carry them through in this regional competition.
They have the core of their players, seven of them returning to the same tournament for the third time in a row.
Goalkeeper Cynthia Shonga, captain Nobukhosi Ncube, Alice Moyo, Daisy Kaitano, Shyline Dambamuromo, Christabel Katona and Privilege Mupeti have all been involved in the past two editions and are making their third straight appearances.
Sibanda will be hoping that the continuity will help her in a big way.
