RUBEN AMORIM APPOINTED AC MILAN HEAD COACH AFTER MANCHESTER UNITED EXIT

AC Milan have confirmed the appointment of Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim as the club’s new head coach, marking a fresh chapter for the Serie A giants ahead of the 2026-27 season.

The 41-year-old arrives in Milan after a difficult spell at Manchester United, where his tenure came to an end in January. Despite his struggles in England, Amorim remains one of Europe’s most highly regarded young coaches following his impressive work with Sporting CP in Portugal.

Speaking after his appointment, Amorim expressed his excitement about taking charge of one of world football’s most historic clubs.

“There are ambitions that stay with you throughout your career, and coaching AC Milan has always been one of mine,” he said.

“I know exactly what this club means: history, prestige and an extraordinary fanbase around the world. It is a challenge I embrace with pride and enthusiasm, fully aware of what these colours represent. I can’t wait to get started and to experience every day the passion that drives AC Milan.”

Amorim takes over following the departure of Massimiliano Allegri, who left the club after Milan finished fifth in Serie A and narrowly missed out on qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

The Portuguese tactician built his reputation during a successful spell with Sporting CP, where he guided the club to domestic success and established himself as one of Europe’s brightest coaching talents. His attacking philosophy, tactical flexibility and ability to develop young players earned him widespread praise across the continent.

Milan’s hierarchy will be hoping Amorim can restore the club to the summit of Italian football and return the Rossoneri to regular Champions League contention.

The appointment also sets up an interesting reunion later this year, with AC Milan scheduled to face Manchester United in a preseason friendly in Poland on August 15.

For Amorim, the move represents an opportunity to rebuild his reputation on one of football’s biggest stages while leading one of Europe’s most iconic clubs into a new era.
