Anotida

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been crowned the winner of the 2025/26 Premier League Golden Playmaker award after producing a record-breaking 21 assists across the season.

The Portuguese midfielder set a new Premier League benchmark, surpassing the previous joint record of 20 assists held by Thierry Henry (2002/03) and Kevin De Bruyne (2019/20), underlining his consistency and creativity throughout the campaign.

Fernandes’ final assist of the season came in Manchester United’s last fixture away to Brighton & Hove Albion, where his corner delivery was converted by Patrick Dorgu, sealing his place in the record books.

The United captain also extended his own club record, moving beyond David Beckham’s long-standing Manchester United single-season assist record of 15, further highlighting his influence in the final third.

Most Premier League assists in a single season:

Bruno Fernandes (MUN) – 21 (2025/26)
Thierry Henry (ARS) – 20 (2002/03)
Kevin De Bruyne (MCI) – 20 (2019/20)
Mesut Özil (ARS) – 19 (2015/16)
Cesc Fàbregas (CHE) – 18 (2014/15)
Frank Lampard (CHE) – 18 (2004/05)
Kevin De Bruyne (MCI) – 18 (2016/17)
Mohamed Salah (LIV) – 18 (2024/25)
Cesc Fàbregas (ARS) – 17 (2007/08)
Kevin De Bruyne (MCI) – 16 (2017/18)
Kevin De Bruyne (MCI) – 16 (2022/23)
Eric Cantona (LEE/MUN) – 16 (1992/93)

Since its introduction in 2017/18, the Golden Playmaker award has been dominated by elite creators, with Kevin De Bruyne winning it three times and Mohamed Salah twice. Other winners include Eden Hazard, Harry Kane and Ollie Watkins.

Fernandes now joins that elite group after a season defined by vision, consistency, and decisive contributions in key moments, as Manchester United’s attacking play repeatedly flowed through their captain’s creativity.

His 21-assist haul not only secured individual recognition but also set a new Premier League standard for playmaking excellence in a single campaign.
