Chicken Inn Coach Ndiraya Admits Scottland Quality Was the Difference in 2-0 Defeat

Chicken Inn FC coach Tonderayi Ndiraya admitted his side struggled to deal with Scottland FC’s quality and movement after the Gamecocks suffered a 2-0 defeat in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Matchday 14 clash at Barbourfields Stadium on Saturday.
Goals from Knowledge Musona and Walter Musona secured maximum points for the defending champions, who controlled large periods of the encounter with their passing combinations and movement in wide areas.
The defeat marked a second consecutive loss for Chicken Inn following last weekend’s narrow 1-0 defeat to FC Platinum, although goalkeeper Mvula produced several important saves to keep the scoreline respectable.
Reflecting on the match, Ndiraya acknowledged Scottland’s superior quality and felt his side failed to maintain shape after a balanced opening spell.
“Firstly, I must submit that today we were playing a very good side, a quality side, Scottland Football Club.
I think basically if you compare the two teams Scottland has a bigger quality than us. Naturally when you are playing a team that is better quality you want to go there and contain their strength, that’s what you want to do.
In terms of quality they are far much better so we tried to do that in the first 5 to 10 minutes. We saw some good balance from the team but I think after that we then lost our shape.” The Chicken Inn coach pointed to Scottland’s overloads on the wings and the movement of Moses Chidolo as key factors that caused problems for his side throughout the match.
“We could not deal with their overloads on the wings particularly the movement of Moses Chidolo. Our midfielders were really struggling to contain that ball.
I think it’s overload that led to the first goal and then released Knowledge Musona. We all know Musona, his quality, he would not miss from that position.”Ndiraya also admitted Chicken Inn lacked sharpness and struggled to match Scottland’s movement during the second half.
“The pressure kept on, it was really difficult for us to really play going forward so we were really under pressure.
Then half time we were down 1 nil. We come back second half a little bit better but today we were not really sharp, we were slow, very slow for everything in terms of movement. Scottland were far much better than us.
Walter Musona on the edge of the box, you can’t give him too much room. The room he was given today allowed him to pick his spot and then they scored their second goal.”Despite the disappointing afternoon, Ndiraya admitted the scoreline could have been heavier against an impressive Scottland side.
“Apart from that I thought they could also have scored more.
I think today we were just bad, I must admit that we were just poor.
Two nil it sounds unacceptable scoreline but it could have been more. I must admit that today was not our day, we played badly.”
Following the result, Chicken Inn remain in 11th place on the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table with 18 points after Matchday 14, as they look to respond in their upcoming fixtures
