Manchester City Women have been crowned 2025/26 Women’s Super League champions after securing their first league title in 10 years.
City sealed the title on Wednesday night after Arsenal Women were held to a draw by Brighton & Hove Albion Women, confirming that Manchester City can no longer be caught at the top of the table ahead of the final round of fixtures.
The triumph marks City’s first WSL crown since 2016 and ends the dominance of Chelsea Women, who had won the league title for six consecutive seasons.
It also represents a remarkable first campaign for head coach Andrée Jeglertz, who guided City to the title in his debut season after replacing Gareth Taylor.
Manchester City have been one of the standout teams throughout the campaign, combining attacking football with consistency in big matches. Their key victories included a 3-2 win over Arsenal, a commanding 5-1 victory against Chelsea, and a dominant 3-0 derby triumph over Manchester United Women.
Jamaican striker Khadija Shaw played a major role in the title-winning campaign, scoring 19 goals in 21 league matches to lead the attack superbly.
City’s success has been built on strong squad depth, defensive organisation, and an attacking style that consistently overwhelmed opponents throughout the season.
The champions could still complete a domestic double this campaign, with an FA Cup semi-final clash against Chelsea still to come.
The title win also signals a major shift in the balance of power within women’s football in England, with Manchester City ending Chelsea’s long-standing dominance and re-establishing themselves among the top forces in the Women’s Super League.
