PSG SET UP ARSENAL CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL AFTER EDGING BAYERN IN THRILLING SEMI-FINAL
Hope

Paris Saint-Germain booked their place in the UEFA Champions League final after securing a dramatic 6-5 aggregate victory over Bayern Munich following a tense 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.
The French champions will now face Arsenal FC in the final in Budapest on 30 May after surviving late pressure from Bayern in a high-intensity semi-final clash.
Holding a narrow 5-4 advantage from the first leg in Paris, PSG made the perfect start in Munich when Ousmane Dembélé fired the visitors ahead in just the 3rd minute. The goal came after a brilliant run and delivery from Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, whose creativity caused problems throughout the match.
The early strike gave PSG breathing space on aggregate and stunned the home crowd inside a packed Allianz Arena.
Bayern responded with urgency and intensity, dominating possession for long periods as they searched for a way back into the contest. However, PSG’s defensive organisation once again proved decisive, with captain Marquinhos leading the backline superbly.
The German giants believed they should have been awarded a penalty during the first half after the ball struck the arm of João Neves inside the penalty area, but no spot-kick was given.
Despite Bayern’s pressure, PSG continued to threaten on the counterattack, with Désiré Doué going close on several occasions. Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer produced important saves to keep the hosts alive in the tie.
The match remained tense until stoppage time when Harry Kane scored in the 90+4 minute to give Bayern hope after connecting with an assist from Alphonso Davies.
However, the late goal was not enough to overturn the aggregate deficit as PSG held on to reach a second successive Champions League final under manager Luis Enrique.
PSG’s route to the final has been impressive, with the French side overcoming several major European opponents, including Manchester City, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Bayern Munich, and Arsenal earlier in the competition.
The final now sets up a blockbuster showdown between Arsenal and PSG, with both clubs chasing European glory in Budapest later this month.
