Rinomhota in contract talks as Rushesha exits Reading

Hope

Zimbabwe international Andy Rinomhota is in contract negotiations with English League One side Reading FC, with discussions ongoing ahead of the expiry of his current deal at the end of June.

The club has confirmed that talks are underway, raising the possibility that the midfielder could extend his stay at the Royals beyond this season.

Rinomhota rejoined Reading in October 2025 on a free transfer, returning to a club where he previously developed through the academy and made his professional breakthrough. His current stint has been affected by injury setbacks and personal commitments, limiting his game time.

However, the 27-year-old has shown signs of regaining form in recent appearances, before being sidelined again. His experience and versatility in midfield are viewed as key assets by the club as they assess their squad options ahead of the new season.

Rinomhota, who has featured for the Zimbabwe national team, remains an important figure for the Warriors, bringing European league experience to the squad.

Meanwhile, Tivonge Rushesha will leave Reading when his contract expires next month after the club decided not to offer him a new deal.

The Wales-born Zimbabwean defender made 38 appearances for Reading since joining the club in 2023. He spent a significant period featuring in the club’s academy and development sides, while also gaining senior team experience.
