Set-piece errors continue to punish Chicken Inn

Chicken Inn coach Tonderai Ndiraya has raised concern over his side’s continued struggles defending set-pieces after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to MWOS FC.
Chicken Inn conceded from a second-half free-kick converted by Prince Magbundu, with Ndiraya admitting his side failed to manage dangerous situations around the penalty area.
Speaking after the match, Ndiraya said his team had prepared for MWOS’ threat from dead-ball situations but still made costly mistakes.
“We knew they have very good free-kick takers and we spoke about that,” said Ndiraya. “But again, we were committing silly fouls in front of the box.”
The Chicken Inn coach said the goal reflected a wider defensive problem that has affected his side in recent matches.
“We have conceded from set-pieces again. These are things we continue talking about and working on going into the next games,” he said.
Ndiraya also admitted his side struggled throughout the match, saying MWOS controlled possession and created the better chances.
Coach Ndiraya stated that, his side had started strongly but gradually lost control as MWOS dominated large parts of the game.
“They deserved to win,” said Ndiraya. “We were just not at our level. We were poor in everything.”
He, however, defended his goalkeeper following Magbundu’s winning strike, saying the free-kick was well executed and difficult to stop.
“Credit goes to the taker. Once the ball goes over the wall like that, there is little the goalkeeper can do,” he added.
The defeat added pressure on Chicken Inn to improve defensively ahead of their upcoming league fixtures against Simba Bhora, FC Platinum and Scottland.
