Shumaira Mheuka has been named the 2025/26 Premier League 2 Player of the Season following an outstanding campaign with Chelsea FC Under-21 side.
The Zimbabwe-eligible striker played a key role in Chelsea’s successful PL2 title-winning season, delivering consistent and decisive performances throughout the campaign.
Mheuka enjoyed a prolific season in front of goal, scoring 18 goals and providing one assist in 19 appearances as Chelsea finished top of the table after winning 14 of their 20 matches.
The 18-year-old forward also produced several standout moments, including two hat-tricks during the season. One came against Manchester City U21 in the opening match of the campaign, while the other arrived in a London derby victory over Crystal Palace FC.
His performances did not go unnoticed, as he was shortlisted alongside Everton’s Braiden Graham, Liverpool midfielder Kieran Morrison, and Chelsea teammate Harrison Murray-Campbell before ultimately winning the prestigious award.
Speaking after receiving the honour, Mheuka expressed pride in his progress and credited his development to hard work and support from those around him.
Born in England to Zimbabwean parents, Mheuka remains eligible to represent Zimbabwe national football team at senior level despite having represented England at youth level.
The highly-rated forward has already made his senior debut for Chelsea and continues to be regarded as one of the most exciting young attacking prospects in English football, with many closely watching his development for both club and country in the years ahead.
