Hope

Zimbabwe Women’s National Cricket Team suffered a 67-run defeat to Pakistan Women’s National Cricket Team in the second T20 International in Karachi as the hosts secured a 2-0 lead in the series.

Chasing 171 for victory, Zimbabwe Women were restricted to 103/8 in their 20 overs after struggling against Pakistan’s disciplined bowling attack.

Zimbabwe captain Nomvelo Sibanda top-scored with an unbeaten 18 runs off 37 deliveries, while Kudzai Chigora added an unbeaten 14 late in the innings.

Adel Zimunu and Lindokuhle Mabhero contributed 12 runs each, while Beloved Biza scored 11 and Natasha Mtomba chipped in with 10.

Pakistan spinner Nashra Sandhu led the home side’s bowling effort with figures of 2/18. Sadia Iqbal, Tuba Hassan, Ayesha Zafar and Natalia Pervaiz also claimed wickets.

Earlier, Pakistan posted 170/4 after choosing to bat first, thanks largely to an unbeaten 79 off 43 balls from Eyman Fatima.

Fatima shared a crucial 78-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Natalia Pervaiz to guide the hosts to a competitive total.

Pakistan made a positive start through Muneeba Ali and Gull Feroza, who added 27 runs for the opening wicket before Feroza was dismissed for nine by Michelle Mavunga.

The hosts briefly lost momentum after quick wickets, including that of Ayesha Zafar, who had scored a century in the opening match, and returning batter Iram Javed.

However, Fatima and Muneeba steadied the innings with a 46-run stand before Muneeba fell for 36 runs to Lindokuhle Mabhero in the 14th over.

Fatima accelerated in the closing overs with a series of boundaries to help Pakistan finish strongly and ultimately seal the series victory.

The third and final T20I will be played in Karachi on Friday.
