Arsenal End 22-Year Premier League Title Wait

Hope

Arsenal have been crowned 2025/26 Premier League champions after Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

The result confirmed Arsenal’s first English top-flight title in 22 years and ended Manchester City’s dominance after Pep Guardiola’s side had won six of the previous eight league titles.

City needed victory at Bournemouth to keep the title race alive heading into the final day of the season. However, Bournemouth took the lead through Junior Kroupi in the 39th minute before Erling Haaland scored a late equaliser that proved insufficient to deny Arsenal the championship.

The title triumph marks Arsenal’s 14th English league crown, placing them behind only Liverpool and Manchester United, who have both won 20 league titles.

Managed by Mikel Arteta, Arsenal ended a long wait for league success after finishing runners-up in each of the previous three seasons. Arteta, who took charge in December 2019, has overseen the club’s steady rise back to the top of English football.

Arsenal last won the Premier League during the famous 2003/04 “Invincibles” campaign under legendary manager Arsène Wenger, when the club completed the entire league season unbeaten.

The Gunners have been among the league’s most consistent teams this season, combining a strong defensive record with key performances from players including Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Kai Havertz. Arsenal also recorded four consecutive clean sheets during the closing stages of the campaign to maintain their lead at the top.

Their final league match against Crystal Palace FC on Sunday will now serve as a title celebration before attention shifts to the UEFA Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain FC on 30 May.

Victory in that final would see Arsenal crowned European champions for the first time in the club’s history and complete a historic domestic and continental double.
