AFRICAN GIANTS ENTER RACE FOR WARRIORS STAR TAWANDA MASWANHISE

Hope

Egyptian champions Al Ahly SC have reportedly joined the race to sign Zimbabwe international forward Tawanda Maswanhise following his impressive breakthrough season in Scotland.

The Cairo-based giants are said to be monitoring the 2026 transfer market closely as they look to strengthen their attacking department, with Maswanhise emerging as one of their top targets ahead of the new campaign.

Reports suggest that his current club Motherwell FC value the Zimbabwean attacker at around US$4 million, a fee Al Ahly are believed to be willing to meet in order to secure his signature.

Maswanhise enjoyed a standout season in the Scottish Premiership, establishing himself as a key player for Motherwell despite his young age and relatively recent arrival in European football.

The Warriors forward delivered consistent performances throughout the campaign, scoring 22 goals in all competitions and earning the club’s Young Player of the Year award for his outstanding contributions.

His rapid rise has not gone unnoticed across Europe, with Belgian side RSC Anderlecht, Scottish giants Celtic FC and Rangers FC, as well as English club Blackburn Rovers FC, all previously linked with interest in the Zimbabwe international.

At international level, Maswanhise’s form has also strengthened his position within the Zimbabwe national team setup, where he is increasingly seen as one of the key attacking options for the future.

As interest continues to grow, the coming transfer window could prove decisive in shaping the next step of the forward’s promising career.
