The New York Knicks continued their remarkable postseason run with a dominant 121-108 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night, moving to within one win of their first NBA Finals appearance since 1999.
Led by another brilliant performance from Jalen Brunson, the Knicks took full control of the Eastern Conference Finals by opening a commanding 3-0 series lead over the Cavaliers.
Brunson finished with 30 points, while Mikal Bridges added 22 points and OG Anunoby contributed 21 as New York once again showcased its attacking depth and defensive intensity.
The Knicks led from start to finish and produced another efficient offensive display, shooting 43-of-77 from the field while also knocking down 11 three-pointers. Their composure at the foul line also proved important as they converted 24 of their 27 free-throw attempts.
New York started strongly, racing into an early 9-1 advantage before ending the first quarter with a 37-27 lead after shooting exceptionally well from the field.
Cleveland attempted to respond midway through the second quarter, with James Harden helping the Cavaliers draw level at 50-50. However, the Knicks quickly regained momentum with a 10-1 run to take a 60-54 lead into halftime.
The visitors continued to control the tempo in the third quarter, with Brunson leading another important scoring burst as New York stretched its advantage to 83-70.
Although Donovan Mitchell scored 23 points for Cleveland, the Cavaliers struggled to match New York’s intensity for long stretches of the contest.
The game was effectively put beyond reach in the fourth quarter when Landry Shamet knocked down three three-pointers in less than two minutes, extending the lead to double digits and silencing the Cleveland crowd.
The victory extended the Knicks’ postseason winning streak to 10 games, making them only the seventh team in NBA history to achieve such a run during the playoffs.
Speaking after the game, Knicks coach Mike Brown praised his players for maintaining focus despite the impressive streak.
“This is hard. We’re playing good teams,” Brown said. “There’s nothing easy about this.”
The Knicks will now head into Game 4 with the opportunity to complete another series sweep and book their place in the NBA Finals.
