Ralph Kawondera continued his impressive scoring form in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after netting the winning goal in Herentals’ 1-0 victory over MWOS FC on Sunday, while also earning the LuckyBets Player of the Match award.
Kawondera’s first-half strike secured an important three points for Herentals and lifted the club to fifth position on the league table.
The forward opened the scoring in the 19th minute as Herentals took control of the match heading into the halftime break. His goal proved decisive as MWOS failed to find an equaliser in the second half.
The 35-year-old now leads the Golden Boot race with eight goals from 13 league matches this season. His tally accounts for nearly half of Herentals’ 17 league goals so far this campaign.
Kawondera’s consistent performances have also highlighted his versatility across the pitch. This season, he has featured in several positions including centre-back, wing-back, central midfield, attacking midfield, winger and striker.
Herentals reportedly kept clean sheets in matches against TelOne FC, Triangle United FC and Agama FC when Kawondera was deployed in defence.
