Zimbabwe international Tawanda Maswanhise has been rewarded for his outstanding form in the Scottish Premiership after being named in the PFA Scotland Team of the Season.
The 23-year-old forward earned a place among the league’s best eleven players, as voted for by fellow professionals through the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Scotland.
Maswanhise has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign since establishing himself at Motherwell, where his performances have made him one of the standout attackers in the Scottish top flight.
He has scored 17 goals in 30 Scottish Premiership appearances and is currently among the leading contenders for the Golden Boot, alongside Lawrence Shankland and Benjamin Nygren.
Across all competitions, the Zimbabwe international has netted 22 goals, placing him among a select group of Motherwell players to reach the 20-goal mark in a single season. His tally sees him mentioned alongside club legends Michael Higdon and Willie Pettigrew in the club’s scoring history.
His form has also been central to Motherwell’s strong season, with the club having five players included in the PFA Scotland Team of the Season, underlining their progress during the campaign. Alongside Maswanhise, the list includes goalkeeper Calum Ward, captain Paul McGinn, midfielder Elliot Watt and winger Elijah Just.
It is the first time since the 2012/13 season that Motherwell have had more than one player selected in the prestigious league XI, highlighting the scale of their improvement.
Maswanhise’s pace, strength and composure in front of goal have made him one of the most influential Zimbabwean players currently active in Europe.
His performances have also seen him linked with interest from Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers, with the summer transfer window expected to bring further attention to his future.
The Zimbabwean forward is also in line for several individual honours at Motherwell’s end-of-season awards, where he has been nominated for Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Goal of the Season.
For Zimbabwean football followers, Maswanhise’s rise continues to be a major highlight of the season, as his form places him among the most in-form forwards in the Scottish Premiership.
