PSL AND LUCKYBETS IGNITE NEW ERA WITH LAUNCH OF PLAYER OF THE MATCH AWARD
Hope
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has taken another significant step in elevating Zimbabwean football after announcing a landmark partnership with LuckyBets to introduce the LuckyBets Player of the Match Award for the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
The initiative, officially unveiled on 12 May 2026, is designed to recognise, reward, and celebrate outstanding individual performances across the league, while also strengthening the continued professionalisation and growth of domestic football.
Under this new arrangement, every Player of the Match will receive a cash reward of US$200, with winners selected through a structured voting process conducted by accredited media representatives covering each fixture. The system is expected to bring transparency, credibility, and consistency in recognising match-defining performances.
The award will be in effect for all remaining fixtures of the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season, ensuring that every match carries added significance for players striving to leave their mark on the pitch.
Beyond the financial incentive, the PSL and LuckyBets have emphasised that the initiative is rooted in a broader vision: to raise the competitive standard of the league. By consistently rewarding excellence, the partnership aims to inspire players to deliver higher levels of performance week in and week out, while also enhancing the matchday experience for supporters across the country.
PSL leadership highlighted that the award aligns with the league’s long-term ambition of modernising the game and increasing its appeal to fans, sponsors, and stakeholders. LuckyBets, on the other hand, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the growth of Zimbabwean football through meaningful and impactful collaborations.
This partnership marks a new chapter where individual brilliance is formally acknowledged at every turn of the season, ensuring that standout performances do not go unnoticed in the competitive landscape of Zimbabwean football.
As the 2026 season continues to unfold, all eyes will now be on the pitch—not only for team success, but for the growing prestige of being crowned Player of the Match.
