PSL Clash Abandoned Following Crowd Trouble

Anotida

The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match between Hardrock FC and Dynamos FC at Chahwanda Stadium was abandoned on Sunday after crowd violence disrupted the game.

The match was stopped in the 78th minute with the score level at 1-1 after supporters from both teams invaded the pitch following disturbances in the stands.

According to reports from the stadium, tensions began with missile throwing between rival supporters before the situation escalated. Dynamos fans allegedly broke through barricades and entered the playing area, forcing match officials to temporarily halt proceedings.

Order was eventually restored after anti-riot police intervened and dispersed the crowd.

In a statement released after the incident, the Premier Soccer League Zimbabwe confirmed the abandonment of the match and said it was awaiting official reports from match officials before taking further action.

The league said both clubs would be requested to submit written reports on the events that transpired.

“The PSL strongly condemns any acts of misconduct at our events and those found guilty will face the full extent of the prescribed penalties,” PSL said.

The PSL added that no further statement would be issued until all relevant reports had been received.

The incident marks the first abandoned league match of the current PSL season due to crowd trouble.
