Casper Ruud has climbed back into the Top 20 of the PIF ATP Rankings after reaching the final of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome.
The Norwegian moved up eight places to World No. 17 following his strong run at the clay-court ATP Masters 1000 event. Ruud dropped only one set on his way to the final before losing to World No. 1 Jannik Sinner.
Sinner capped off an impressive campaign by winning the Rome title while also completing the Career Golden Masters milestone.
Ruud had fallen outside the Top 20 earlier this month after a quarter-final exit in Madrid, but his performance in Rome has boosted his rankings position ahead of the French Open.
Meanwhile, Daniil Medvedev rose two places to World No. 7 after reaching the semi-finals in the Italian capital. It was the second time this season the former Rome champion has reached the last four of a Masters 1000 tournament.
Italian player Luciano Darderi climbed four spots to a career-high No. 16 after reaching his maiden Masters 1000 semi-final. Darderi earned his first victory over a Top 5 opponent after defeating Alexander Zverev during the tournament.
Spain’s rising teenager Rafael Jodar also continued his impressive progress in Rome. The 19-year-old moved up five places to a career-high No. 29 after becoming the youngest quarter-finalist at the event in 21 years.
Jodar was also the first teenager since Novak Djokovic in 2007 to reach the quarter-finals of multiple Masters 1000 events in one season.
Fellow Spaniard Martin Landaluce enjoyed one of the biggest rankings jumps of the week, climbing 27 places to World No. 67 after reaching the quarter-finals in Rome as a lucky loser.
The 20-year-old defeated Marin Cilic, Mattia Bellucci and Hamad Medjedovic during his run in the Italian capital.
