The Minnesota Timberwolves produced a fearless fourth-quarter comeback to defeat the San Antonio Spurs 114-109 on Sunday night, leveling their NBA Western Conference semifinal series at 2-2 in a dramatic Game 4 dominated by the shocking ejection of Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama.

Anthony Edwards once again delivered on the big stage, exploding for 36 points, including 16 in the final quarter, as Minnesota fought back from a difficult position to secure a massive victory at the Target Center.

The game’s biggest moment came early in the second quarter when Wembanyama was thrown out following a Flagrant 2 foul on Naz Reid. The towering Spurs center struck Reid in the neck with a swinging elbow while protecting possession, leading officials to review the play before issuing an automatic ejection.

The decision stunned the Spurs but did little to slow them down initially.

De’Aaron Fox and Dylan Harper both scored 24 points, while Stephon Castle added 20 as San Antonio responded with remarkable determination despite losing their franchise player. The Spurs even carried momentum deep into the second half and threatened to steal the game on the road.

Minnesota, however, rose when it mattered most.

Edwards ignited the comeback with a series of clutch baskets and long-range shots before Rudy Gobert imposed himself inside the paint. Gobert finished with 11 points and 13 rebounds, while Naz Reid contributed 15 points and nine rebounds after recovering from the heavy collision involving Wembanyama.

A thunderous Gobert dunk late in the fourth quarter pushed the Timberwolves into control before Ayo Dosunmu calmly sealed the victory from the free-throw line in the closing seconds.

The defeat leaves San Antonio facing fresh uncertainty ahead of Game 5, with Wembanyama’s status still unclear following the Flagrant 2 ejection.

Spurs coach Mitch Johnson defended his player’s frustrations after the incident, although he admitted the contact on Reid went too far. Minnesota coach Chris Finch, meanwhile, praised his team’s resilience after surviving several difficult moments throughout the contest.

With the series now tied at 2-2, momentum swings back to San Antonio ahead of what is shaping into a decisive and emotionally charged Game 5 on Tuesday night.
