Djokovic gears up for Rome Open

Hope

Novak DjokovicNovak Djokovic has returned to competition preparations ahead of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome, where he was seen training on a temporary court set up at the historic Piazza del Popolo.

The 38-year-old Serbian star appeared relaxed during Tuesday’s public practice session in the Italian capital, drawing large crowds of fans who watched him train and later stopped to sign autographs.

Djokovic is returning to the ATP Tour after his most recent appearance at Indian Wells, where he lost to Jack Draper in the fourth round on March 12. He has not played a tour-level clay-court match since his French Open semi-final defeat to Jannik Sinner last year.

The former world number one holds a strong record in Rome, with multiple title wins and an impressive match record at the tournament, according to ATP statistics. His success in the Italian capital includes several Masters 1000 titles across his career.

Djokovic is expected to open his campaign at the Foro Italico against either Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics or Croatian qualifier Dino Prizmic, depending on results in the opening round.

If results follow seeding expectations, he could meet Italian eighth seed Lorenzo Musetti in the quarter-finals.
