LADY CHEVRONS BEGIN HISTORIC PAKISTAN TOUR WITH FIRST TRAINING SESSION AHEAD OF ODI SERIES

Hope

The Zimbabwe’s women’s cricket team, — popularly known as the Lady Chevrons — have officially begun preparations for their historic first-ever tour of Pakistan, holding their opening training session on Thursday in Karachi.

The session comes ahead of Monday’s opening match of the three-match One Day International series against Pakistan Women at the National Stadium in Karachi, marking a significant milestone in Zimbabwe women’s cricket history.

The tour features a six-match white-ball series in total, including three ODIs and three T20 Internationals, offering the Lady Chevrons a valuable opportunity to compete against strong international opposition in unfamiliar conditions.

The ODI series carries added importance as it forms part of the ICC Women’s Championship pathway, giving Zimbabwe a chance to earn crucial points in their bid for global qualification.

The three T20 Internationals that follow will serve as key preparation for Pakistan ahead of the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, adding competitive weight to the entire tour.

Zimbabwe arrive in Pakistan with a reshaped 15-player squad, featuring a mix of experienced players and emerging talent as selectors continue to build a competitive side for the future.

The Lady Chevrons will also be aiming to bounce back from a 3-0 ODI series defeat against New Zealand earlier this year, a result that highlighted both challenges and learning opportunities for the developing squad.

However, they face a tough assignment against a confident Pakistan Women’s team, who have been steadily improving and are expected to pose a strong challenge at home.

Despite the difficulty, the tour is seen as an important step forward for Zimbabwe women’s cricket, providing exposure at a higher level and a platform to measure progress on the international stage as the ODI series gets underway on Monday.
